Susanna
Block MD, MPH and Jonathan Scheffer MD
are the
physician founders of World Baby Foods. Their
shared interests in world cultures and health have
led them to work overseas in Asia, Africa, Latin
America - and at home in our own native lands. They
have come to recognize cuisine as a vital way to
experience culture.
Susanna and Jonathan combine professional backgrounds in health, international development and pediatric obesity - as well as truly adventurous culinary skills. Together they created WBF as a reflection of their love of culture and food - and of their desire to promote health and cultural understanding.
Susanna works in Seattle as a Pediatrician, and Jonathan as a Family Medicine doctor. They have worked with Doctors Without Borders, the International Medical Corps, and with the Yupik and Navajo peoples. They met in rural Alaska.

"In a world of
conflict, cuisine offers one small but easily
travelled bridge between people - over which even
the youngest child may pass."
